The MacWala Family Trade Scholarships were established through the MacWala Foundation to support students pursuing careers in the skilled trades, apprenticeships, and technical professions. The scholarships recognize hardworking individuals who demonstrate dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to building a successful future for themselves and their communities.
This year, the MacWala Foundation will award three (3) $1,000 Trade Scholarships to deserving students pursuing careers in the skilled trades, apprenticeships, or technical professions.
These scholarships are named in honour of the families whose values, hard work, and commitment to community helped inspire the Foundation:
While each scholarship recognizes a different family legacy, all three share a common purpose: supporting the next generation of skilled workers and helping young people build successful futures through education, training, and meaningful careers.
Each year, the program will provide financial assistance to students from Richmond County who are entering or continuing studies in a recognized trade, apprenticeship, or technical training program. By investing in the next generation of tradespeople, the MacWala Family Trade Scholarships help strengthen local communities, support economic growth, and celebrate the essential role skilled workers play in shaping our region.
Applications for the MacWala Family Trade Scholarships open at the beginning of the school year and remain open until April 16th, 2027.
All applications will be reviewed by the MacWala Foundation, and successful recipients will be contacted in mid-April. Scholarship recipients may also be recognized through Foundation communications and community announcements.
We encourage all graduating students from Richmond County Schools to apply and share their plans for building a successful future through the skilled trades.
Successful applicants will be selected based on commitment to their chosen trade, community involvement, future goals, and potential to make a positive impact in their community.
